Unfurling

In suffering, we often hide.

Afraid to unfurl,

Afraid that we lied.

Shame keeps us prisoner

And it does it for free

We are haunted by sorrow

When we long to be free

It’s a human thing

To feel this bad

Feeling that it’s wrong

Is what is so sad

But what if fragility became part of the hue?

Every tear, every scar,

Of the souls’ breakthrough.

Katherine Abdelkerim

Katherine’s poetry is rooted in lived experience, shaped by pain, resilience, and the quiet moments of transformation that follow. She writes to make meaning of what we carry, and to remind others they are not alone in it.
