Katherine Abdelkerim, MS, LMFT

Meet Katherine

I didn’t become a therapist just to sit in a room and talk about feelings.
I became a therapist because I deeply care about how people experience themselves, their relationships, and the world around them.

At the core of everything I do is this belief: You deserve to feel safe being fully yourself.

I’m an inclusive, affirming Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Los Angeles, and I bring my full humanity into the work I do.

That means I’m not neutral about people’s right to exist, to be seen, and to be supported. I believe in showing up for my clients not only inside the therapy room, but in how I move through the world.

Beyond Therapy

Outside of clinical work, I’m a community builder at heart.

I created Holding the Holder because I saw how much therapists themselves needed spaces to feel supported, connected, and human. Not just professionals, but people.

I care deeply about building community that feels real, not transactional. Spaces where people can exhale, connect, and grow together.

I also work in behavioral health outreach and business development, helping clinicians and organizations build meaningful, aligned referral relationships. I love thinking outside the box and creating opportunities that actually feel good to be part of.

What Grounds Me

A lot of what inspires my work comes from nature, exploring, and creativity.

I’m drawn to things that grow quietly and with resilience. Moss, texture, imperfection, organic forms. My art reflects that.

Nature reminds me that growth doesn’t have to be loud to be powerful. And that same belief carries into how I support others.

What I Care About

  • Creating affirming spaces that go beyond surface-level inclusivity

  • Helping people build real confidence, not just cope

  • Encouraging depth, curiosity, and self-trust to work towards living a more authentic life

  • Supporting therapists and professionals so they don’t have to do this work alone

  • Building community that feels meaningful, not performative

At the end of the day, my work is about helping people feel more connected - to themselves and to others.
