FAQs

How do I inquire about this group to get started?

Getting started is simple. Click the “Get Started” button or reach out through my contact form. I’ll walk you through the next steps and answer any questions you may have.

Is this the same as Group therapy?

2

No. While both involve connection and shared experiences, Women Who Carry a Lot is a support group, not group psychotherapy.

This group is designed to provide a space for reflection, discussion, education, and peer support around topics such as relationships, cultural identity, family expectations, caregiving, boundaries, and burnout.

Unlike group therapy, participants are not receiving mental health treatment, psychotherapy, or clinical diagnosis through the group. Because this is a support group, it is also more accessible and affordable for women who may be seeking connection, community, and personal growth but are not looking for formal therapy services.

While participants are asked to respect one another's privacy and confidentiality, HIPAA does not apply between group members, meaning confidentiality cannot be guaranteed in the same way it can in individual therapy. Group guidelines will be reviewed at the beginning of the program to help foster a respectful, supportive, and trusting environment

How do I know if I would benefit from a Support Group vs. Group Therapy?

3

A support group may be a good fit if you're looking for connection, shared experiences, personal growth, and a supportive community of women navigating similar life challenges. Group therapy may be a better fit if you're seeking treatment for mental health concerns, symptom reduction, or more in-depth clinical support from a therapist. If you're unsure, feel free to reach out and we can discuss which option may best meet your needs.

Yes. Prior to joining, participants will complete a brief screener to help determine whether the group is a good fit. This process helps ensure the group remains a supportive and beneficial experience for everyone involved.

Will there be a screening process?
